Staff Accountant II

The Bradford Group is looking for a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join their team! This position is responsible for performing daily accounting and analysis of financial results. In addition, select candidate will be responsible for preparing reconciliations and analyses, reviewing accounts payable and purchasing orders, reconciling ledger accounts, and preparing reports and statements. The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial statements and reporting for a designated business unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of income statements
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals and allocations
  • Review income statement; analyze revenues, margins and expenses; report on variances to budget, prior year, and re-forecast
  • Oversee day to day accounting transactions for assigned business unit
  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts and report any unusual activity
  • Prepare inventory roll and record appropriate financial transactions relating to cost of goods for assigned business unit
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as assigned to support the ongoing business needs

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an Accounting environment
  • Strong understanding of accounting methods, theories and concepts required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including look-ups and pivot tables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail orientated and organized
  • Self starter
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Ability to work, under minimal supervision, with all levels of staff and management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with monthly close process
  • Advanced functions and macros within Excel
  • Strong Microsoft Access or database skills
