Staff Accountant

The Bradford Group is looking for a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join their team! This position is responsible for performing daily accounting and analysis of financial results. Additionally, the ideal candidate will review accounts payable and purchase orders, reconcile ledger accounts and prepare simple accounting reports and statements. The ideal candidate will partner with our business units and take on additional responsibilities within the department as we grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of income statements
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals and allocations
  • Responsible for service area of accounting (cash management and control, MSA maintenance, component inventory tracking). This includes overseeing day to day transactions, verifying accuracy and addressing any maintenance issues; must identify and correct issues with minimal supervision.
  • Oversee day to day accounting transactions for assigned business unit
  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts and report any unusual activity
  • Financial reporting for a business unit.
  • Prepare inventory roll and record appropriate financial transactions relating to cost of goods for assigned business unit
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as assigned to support the ongoing business needs

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting methods, theories and concepts required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including look-ups and pivot tables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail orientated and organized
  • Self starter
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Ability to work, under minimal supervision, with all levels of staff and management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced functions and macros within Excel
  • Strong Microsoft Access or database skills
