Global Sourcing Product Development Specialist

Job Summary

The Senior Global Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for new project bidding and cost negotiation as well as vendor selection and vendor relationship management. In addition, there will be a need for product/concept development, production and quality coordination, and new vendor and material sourcing. Requirements include 5+ years of experience in procurement field as well as experience sourcing consumer product from Asia.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • New project bidding and cost negotiation with Far East suppliers
  • Calculate Freight-in and Freight-out cost
  • Create internal Cost of Goods (COG)
  • Distribute and maintain internal COG                                   
  • New product/concept development
  • Review new concept and programs with Program Managers
  • Consulting on new concepts and programs
  • Give suggestions on material and design
  • Vendor selection
  • Development problem solving
  • Update development report
  • Production and quality coordination
  • Review pre-production samples and give suggestion
  • Mail order package design
  • Package weight control
  • Production problems solving

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, Certification, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business
  • 5-7 years experience in the field
  • Experience in Home Décor/collectible/giftware industry

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven cost negotiation skills
  • Mail order package experience
  • Strong material knowledge on Resin, Porcelain, Glass and Metal
  • Strong computer skills including excel, word, and databases
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills (Able to work with a wide range of personalities)
  • Proven project management skills
  • International travelling experience
  • Overseas (Far East) sourcing and process design experience is highly preferred
  • Overseas sourcing experience
  • Overseas(Far East) manufacturing experience, understanding of manufacturing process
  • Understanding of ocean freight calculation

  • BA International Business  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bilingual in both English and Chinese (Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese), but not mandatory
